Allermuir Launches 3 New Ranges

3 min
Furow by Allermuir

Earlier this month, at Clerkenwell Design Week 2022 we were delighted to visit the showroom of our friends and partners in Allermuir. Established in the 1970’s by the Vaghetti family, Allermuir has become a worldwide favourite with designers and specifiers alike. In 2005 they became part of The Senator Group, a leading manufacturer of high-quality furniture for the contract market and leading investor in research, development and design. It was our first in-person trip to Clerkenwell since the Coronavirus pandemic started.

Especially exciting was the launch of a number of new ranges, two soft seating lines; 'Bastille' and 'Plum', and a series of planters known as 'Furow'. Allermuir work with the best designers in the world, both in-house and through partnerships with innovative and industry-leading designers.

Bastille

Bastille is a seating family made up of a dining, lounge and bar stool with a minimalist, yet luxurious aesthetic. The collection was designed specifically with hospitality environments in mind although with the increased merging of interior styles in corporate and hospitality markets the collection could easily transition across both. Bastille has been brought to life by an icon of French Design, Patrick Norguet. Since the start of his career, Norguet has been involved in collaborations with the fashion world, iconic brands such as Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Guerlain and Christian Dior. His works represent the ideal union between fashion, design and a renowned “French touch”. As he says:

"We're really onto something, a significant evolution that's related to new customer habits. This collection of Bastille, responds precisely to this transversality. It can enter into different markets with its design, simplicity and functionality."

Furow

One of the main talking points, post-Clerkenwell was a new series of planters, Furow. Taking its inspiration from pleat formations and linear forms found in nature, Furow makes adding plants to workplace and hospitality interiors easy. Use the circular planter to create a focal point in otherwise awkward spaces and soften strong linear architecture. The mobile rectangular planter effortlessly divides zones and provides a mood-boosting lush backdrop. Designed by Allermuir's in-house team, these planters are the antidote to the general 'boxy-looking' solutions already on the market. Like so many of Allermuir's range, these also offer 99% recyclability and were produced using over 35% of recycled material.

Plum

Plum is a new lounge chair collection with an exceptionally comfortable upright sit. A colourful collection, it is the result of an intense design process and marks almost 25 years of collaborations between Allermuir and Mark Gabbertas of Gabbertas Studios. Mark says:

"We were asked to design a chair for corporate and hospitality areas, an upholstered universal chair. That would be as much at home in a hotel bedroom as it would be in an office lobby or informal meeting area."

Interestingly having explored many routes, Plum came about from one of Gabbertas’s original sketches, a series of ultra-soft pillow like structures that allow the internal structure of the chair to be hidden. These gentle forms, defined by a pinched seam would, in a sense, sit and just gently touch. Perfect for working, reading or conversation in both a hospitality or domestic setting.

For more information on any of the new Allermuir ranges, please get in touch. We can provide specification, fabric choices and pricing.
