Five On Friday: Mobile Sofas and Fabrics Made from Sea Plastic

Five On Friday

Here's five things we've loved this month - from colours and products to fabrics and projects!

New Product Launch: Pal Laptop Table

One of the things we have seen a big increase in enquiry for lately are laptop tables. As lots of staff arrive back to the office, they may be facing an unfamiliar office layout or configuration. It is important then to have socially distanced spaces where people can work comfortably and safely. Laptop tables allow you to work away from your desk when required. Pictured here is the 'Pal' laptop table from Torasen as featured in our Cork showroom.

Airflake Acoustic Dividers

The 'Airflake' acoustic divider system from Abstracta AB recently celebrated its 15th birthday. Now more than ever, companies are finding new uses for this beautiful and clever product. Previously we installed a lot of Airflake from screens to help office environments reduce unwanted sound or as an eye-catching backdrop. Now, in the 'new normal' we see it is being used a lot as a space divider to 'zone' off spaces for social distancing purposes but still allowing light through as well as providing its classic acoustic function.

New Product Launch: Mayze Mobile

Our friends at Allermuir have reimagined their soft seating range 'Mayze' to include castors to create 'Mayze Mobile' - an important reconfigurable solution for the modern office. Mayze Mobile brings the comfort levels of a domestic sofa, with the commercial specification required along with the ability to easily change its location. We can see this one appearing in a lot of office spaces in 2022.

Camira launches Fabric made from Recycled Sea Plastic
Quest by Camira Fabrics Limited is a fabric made from used recycled plastic. Camira says "Created with a conscience, Quest is a continuation of our partnership with the SEAQUAL Initiative to combat marine plastic pollution. Waste made wonderful, this lightly textured fabric is woven entirely from post-consumer recycled plastic - transforming it into a fabric as fluid as the waves by which it was inspired, and which it seeks to save. With a hopsack weave enhanced by discat-dyed SEAQUAL yarn, Quest brings a touch of ocean warmth to interiors." As if that wasn't enough, for every yard of fabric sold containing SEAQUAL yarn, Camira will make a give-back donation directly to the SEAQUAL Initiative.

Case Study: UPMC GTOC Kilkenny
We were delighted to be involved in the fitout project for UPMC's Global Technology Operations Centre (GTOC), located at MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre, Kilkenny. A fabulous and collaborative fitout, finished to such a high standard by everyone involved. Congratulations and best wishes to architects C.J. Falconer & Associates, Architects who have been nominated in 3 categories at this years 'Fitout of the Year' Awards for this project.
