Materials, Colours & New Perspectives

A lot of end users don’t know what goes in to making the fabric on their new sofa, office chair or bus seat. That’s why we love to deal with Camira Fabrics. They have a great story, which is constantly being written as they adapt to the changing world around them. Camira make more than 8 million metres of fabric a year. Their team of innovators design and make some of the world's most adventurous and environmentally sensitive fabrics. Camira’s expertise covers wool spinning and polypropylene yarn manufacturing, yarn dyeing, weaving on dobby, jacquard and plush looms, technical knitting, textile finishing and upholstery services. One of the other reasons we love to deal with Camira, is that they are always willing to share this expertise and knowledge through presentations, in-person pre-pandemic and now online via conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

One such presentation is taking place via Zoom, on Tuesday 29th June at 10am. The runtime is just 1 hr as we know that everyone is busy planning their return to the office, or adapting to hybrid working. Nevertheless, this webinar is jam-packed with insights and knowledge that can prove useful to Architects, Interior Designers, Furniture Manufacturers, Facilities Buyers, Health & Safety officers, Project Planners and many more people in our industry. If you’d like to book your free place, please register by clicking here.

Discover new Camira Fabrics like Craggan Flax, Sumi/Kyoto and Oceanic - a fabric made from recycled plastic. “In the bottles we drink from, the bags we carry, the credit cards we pay with, the bin liners we throw away with; almost everything we see, use and touch during our day contains plastic. And that’s the problem. So widespread, it is difficult to conceive of a world without it - but if we don’t begin to reduce, reuse and recycle the amount we use, we may not have a world left” say Camira. Created entirely from recycled plastic, Oceanic brings new life to thrown away products - from debris found floating in our seas to post-consumer plastic bottles, destined for landfill. Oceanic is a highly durable textile, ideal for inclusion in a wide range of modern interiors. Learn more about this and the other new fabrics at the upcoming presentation.

An important part of fabric manufacturing is treatments. Again, something that many end-users don’t realise is that many fabrics are ‘treated’ with a solution before they are fitted to furniture. There is a myriad of different fabric add-ons which can enhance performance to make fabric work even harder. Some of the most popular treatments provide added stain repellency, anti-microbial properties or enhanced flame retardancy. Camira StaySafe is an advanced textile treatment, suitably developed for the Covid age, which reduces the potential for viral transmission from fabric surfaces in commercial spaces and bus & coach interiors. When applied to a fabric, this state-of-the-art textile technology destroys viruses and kills bacteria – ensuring upholstery does not act as a potential source of transmission. Learn how StaySafe works and its applications by attending the webinar on the June 29th.

If, like us, you like to keep up to date with the latest trends, Camira have got you covered! In collaboration with Colour Hive a global trend forecasting house, Camira have developed ‘New Perspectives’, a trend guide which will “explore the influences that will inspire future interiors.” A powerful tool, especially for interior designers, ‘New Perspectives’ covers three diverse design stories – “The Master, a testament to craftsmanship, The Pioneer, a symbol of innovation, and The Collaborator, a celebration of the beauty that is possible when we work together” – to provide an insight into the textiles and other material finishes that will be influential in interiors and specifications in the post-Covid world. Get in touch for more information on ‘New Perspectives’ and/or attend ‘Material, Colours & New Perspectives’ on Tuesday 29th June 2021.
