OfficeMaster's Year in Review 2022

The end of a year is a great time for reflection. As we look back on 2022, we can count ourselves very lucky to be a part of two active business communities in both Cork & Waterford. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank both Cork Chamber and Waterford Chamber for their support this year. It's a pleasure to attend their events and feel a part of something bigger than ourselves.

Behind the many networking events, exhibitions, grand openings and coffee mornings that we post online about, are the people who make it all happen. Thanks must go to the people who aren't always front and centre of our photos. Sometimes it's because of shyness, but often it's because they don't stand still long enough to be photographed! For example, the Installation and Delivery team who put in the miles across the country to assemble the furniture that ultimately looks so well. Also the Retail team, who in challenging times for brick and mortar stores, continue to provide high standards of customer service and consistently receive great feedback on our Google and Facebook reviews. Last but certainly not least are the Customer Support team who always go that extra mile via phone and email to ensure all our clients, big and small, work happy, whether they've ordered furniture, office supplies or design & print.

Below are just some of the highlights from an action-packed 2022. We appreciate every customer and every order that continues to support local, and hope to see you all again in 2023.

Irish Cattle Breeders Federation, Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

In March, we put the finishing touches to our installation for the Irish Cattle Breeders Federation (ICBF) in Ballincollig, Cork. A large fitout, it contained a variety of product, from office desking and seating, to boardroom and meeting spaces, to breakout areas and brainstorming zones. A comprehensive project, but one ourselves and the client collaborated closely on, leading to a happy outcome all around. Niall Naughton IT Infrastructure Manager for ICBF was kind enough to give us this testimonial:

"Before moving to our new offices in Ballincollig we undertook an evaluation process to choose our furniture provider. As a result of this process we chose OfficeMaster. From the start they worked with us and there was no hard sell. They liaised with our design team and our requirements were always central to their decision making. Their customer service and attention to detail was exceptional. We are delighted with the end product, especially the quality of the furniture. We intend to continue buying our furniture from OfficeMaster."

Liam lays out the latest swatches and information from Camira.

April saw us host the lovely Liam Wycherley from Camira. We often specify Camira fabric in our projects and Liam joined us from the UK for some in-person presentations to our clients across Cork and Waterford. Camira launched 2 new fabrics this year 'Oceanic' and 'Quest' which are made from post-consumer recycled plastic and SEAQUAL yarn. Camira also make a give-back donation directly to the SEAQUAL Initiative for every metre of fabric sold to support their work in cleaning our oceans.

Dervela and David at Waterford Business Expo 2022.

May saw us attend the Waterford Business Expo at Tom Murphy Car Sales Ltd, in association with Waterford Chamber. It's always great when we can meet, chat and learn with businesses outside of our own industry and expertise. Towards the end of the month we travelled to London, for Clerkenwell Design Week. A trip we would have regularly made pre-pandemic. Vital for inspiration, knowledge and predicting future trends, it's always a worthwhile occasion and we were delighted to have it back as part of our calendar.

UPMC GTOC, McDonagh Junction, Kilkenny.

In July, UPMC in Ireland launched their new Global Technology Operation Centre in McDonagh Junction, Kilkenny. Nominated for Fit Out Project of the Year 2021 (Medium Office) in the FitOut Awards, we were delighted to be a part of this project thanks to architects C.J. Falconer & Associates. Furniture installed includes; desking, storage, glass partitions, privacy booths, breakout spaces, a reception area and acoustic elements.

September saw Sun Life Waterford officially open their new offices. An incredible project to be a part of. Thank you again and congratulations to architects and project leads C.J. Falconer & Associates, Architects upon completion of this fabulous fitout.

"The project incorporated a major expansion in addition to an extensive adaptation/refurbishment of the existing office and cafeteria space (complete with new mezzanine level), with an overall floor area of 56,000sq.ft. – providing over 700 workpoints, meeting/collaboration spaces, wellness, and refreshment facilities..."

We were delighted to be furniture provider on this transformative and forward-thinking development. Speaking of which, the UPMC project we worked on with C.J. Falconers was featured in Plan Magazine this month too.

Also in September OfficeMasters Waterford showroom hosted a Waterford Chamber Business After Hours event for the first time since 2016. There was a great turnout, with Waterford's business community well-represented across a number of sectors. We also wished outgoing Chamber President John McSweeney BA (Mgmt) QFA LIB all the best and thank him for representing Chamber members so well during his term. Food and refreshments were sourced from local producers Berkana Bakery and Coffee House Lane of Waterford.

October saw OfficeMaster return to the exhibition space and we attended the Toys4Engineers Expo in SETU Arena for the first time. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Stand and used our Breakout Zone. It was great to connect with other companies, organisations and students across the day. Fascinating to see what Waterford and the South East has to offer. We look forward to T4E 2023 already!

November was a busy month as first we hosted a number of Webinars in association with The Senator Group. These were online presentations to architects by Stephen Morris of Senator, detailing the new product configurator that Senator and Allermuir have devised to help users specify their product in projects. Secondly, November was a big month for us as our Cork showroom moved location. We didn't go far, we still call Northpoint Business Park home, but our space is now almost four times bigger. Officially launched on November 9th, we held a number of events across the day.

In the afternoon, we were joined by many of the local Cork business community and special guests Fintan McCarthy and Aoife Casey of Rowing Ireland. Fintan and Aoife were on hand to cut the ribbon to officially launch our new showroom.
